I was born and raised in Stellenbosch, where I attended Stellenbosch High school. After a year of National Service in the Navy, I started my Medical degree at Stellenbosch University. I completed my studies in 1997 and did my intern-ship at Bloemfontein Academic Complex in 1998. During this time I met my wife, Méri, and returned to work in Bloemfontein, after my year of Community Service at Charles Johnson Memorial Hospital in Nqutu.

I worked for a year as a Medical Officer in the Trauma and Resus Unit and another 6 months in ICU before starting my Career in Orthopaedic Surgery.

I initially worked under the guidance of three Orthopaedic Surgeons in New Zeeland at the Whakatane Hospital for two years, before returning to Bloemfontein to obtain my M.Med phd Degree in Orthopaedic Surgery.

After extensively travelling the country we decided to establish our practice at Netcare The Bay Hospital in 2011, where we have now settled with our 3 children.

My personal motto is: To always do your best – in life, love and work.
